Little Rock Arkansas | Choosing Your Wedding Photographer

5 Things to Keep in Mind When Choosing a Wedding Photographer in Little Rock Arkansas and nationwide.

Congrats, you’re engaged! Now the real fun begins! From wedding dress shopping and cake tasting to asking your closest circle to be your bridesmaids, planning for a wedding is one of life’s most stressful events. However, it is also one of life’s most important. As a Wedding Photographer serving Little Rock Arkansas and nationwide, with over 15 years of experience, I know exactly the ins and outs of capturing such a momentous occasion. Because these memories will last a lifetime, it is crucial to ensure that they are beautifully captured. I trust that this blog will answer all the right questions so that finding the right wedding photographer for you is as easy as saying, “I do!” Below is a list of the things to consider in finding the most eligible person to document the most important day of your life.

Years of Experience

Years of experience can be crucial to whether or not you are comfortable with your photographer. Because I, Photography by Karla, a Little Rock Arkansas Photographer and serving nationwide have shot for 15+ years, I can attest to the importance of a stress-free wedding day. My goal will be to provide well-shot photos and manage family dynamics so that everyone is pleased with the pictures for decades to come. In a day when you are most vulnerable, having an experienced person in your corner will ensure professionalism, creative intuition, and overall guidance.

Figuring Out Your Style

Photography is an art form, and every artist is different. You want to ensure the photographer you choose has the same photographic style that you do. Are you casual and relaxed, or do you like posed and formal images? Maybe you prefer a little of both? Do you like dark colors or bright and vibrant in your final edit of images? Most people describe my style as light, bright, and colorful, with a mixture of fine art posed photography and some fun candid shots. I’m also known to add black and white to many of my images for that classic look. Style shopping is crucial to ensure not to fall victim to today’s trends. You will want to look down the road in 10+ years and be at ease with timeless photos. You can find my portfolio here.

Know What You’re Willing to Spend

There’s a reason why a photographer is one of the most significant expenses. It is essential to capture special moments you will want to remember forever. Experienced photographers know the value they bring to your wedding day, so to get the best, you have to pay for the best. Wedding photographers have many expenses you may need to realize when deciding on your budget. A lot of my work is on more than just your wedding day. From the moment you sign a contract with me to the final delivery of your wedding images and keepsake items, I am working for you. You can reach out to me on my contact page for exact pricing.

Understand The Rights of Your Images

Photographers shoot and produce differently. Most photographers will give you all your edited images. Along with the right to print the photos or share them on social media. Others will offer a more hands-on approach and print only what you want. This can be prints, canvas, or even a custom photo album. For my clients, I still own the full rights to the images but give personal use to the client and family. You will never find a photographer to give you rights to the “raw” files. Whichever process you prefer, you want to clarify what you are getting from your wedding photographer before you sign.

Make Sure You Mesh

Everyone’s personalities are different, but when it comes to photography, you want to ensure your photographer gets you. You want to look for an honest, friendly, organized, and dependable photographer. That is who will be by your side the entire day. I like to meet with couples ahead of time, whether in person or on video chat, to give them an idea of who I am. When they book with me, I tell people that you become part of the Photography by Karla a family for life. I want couples to hire me because they trust me to capture their day and guide them in the process. I want to capture images in a way that is true to your big day.
